Hello to all the Harp enthusiasts here. I’ve been a member with Mitch for a year, he’s a great Instructor & personality too!
I live in Orlando, FL. USA and am spending many hours & days practicing the Bends which I have down pretty good now. I’m trying to blend them in with Beatbox videos I follow on Youtube. Together they make a fantastic performance. I was frustrated like the rest of you when I first tried to get the Bends down, whew!, it was rough, but once U get it = Wow! U can come close to making those Juicy Bent-Sounds the Big boys (& girls) make. The best advice I ever heard on trying to ‘get the bend’ was to drop your jaw down some & squeeze your lips together like your sucking a straw with a stuck lump of milkshake in it (I think I got that from the Famous Norton Buffalo, San Francisco fame, 1970-2015). I met him once at a show in Folsom Lake Nightclub, Calif, a really Cool Dude, inspired me to play harp, he was fabulous. I like the way Mitch ‘Chuckles frequently’ in his lessons, keeps it lively & interesting. Stay with it and you will get people Requesting U play for them like I’m getting now. At Christmas time I play the “Silent Night” melody in the Post Office = Everybody in line & the Counter workers ‘Freeze’ until I finish 1 verse, they they all break out clapping = a Great feeling for me to bring all those smile to people’s faces. Keep on practicing over & over & over and U WILL get it conquered in time. P.S. Want to hear me Singing/Playing Harp & Guitar? Go to Youtube & Type in my name in Youtube Search bar = Jesse Holliday (beware, there is also a J.H. who sings Religious songs, that is a Diff guy). It took me 15 years to get this far and I love every minute of practice these days, Best Wishes, Jesse, in Orlando, Land of Sunshine. A BIG THANKS to Mitch for providing a Great harmonica-Learning Website!
