When I pull up the MP3s, it’s just audio, no tablature. Is that correct? And if so, where is the tablature? Just in the Lesson Document?

Second: Although I play Marimba pretty well by ear (a recent “Pandemic” skill I might add) I’m having trouble in Lesson 2 with getting the “play be ear” part right, at least within three tries. Is that typical, or am I sunk? Do I just need to get each correct before moving on?

Hi Cheryl, welcome.. Yes the MP3’s and jam tracks on each lesson page are audio only. You can print off a copy of the lesson document or you can open a new tab and go to the same page on the new tab. You’ll be able to play the jam track from one tab and view the lesson document on another, that is if you are on a laptop or computer. This is what I do as I end up losing the paper!
Second-Not sure if you are referring to the “ear training” within the “lick library” section. If you are it certainly took me more than 3 attempts to get them correct so I really wouldn’t worry. I stuck with each until I got it right and only then did I move on. Good luck

    Hi Cheryl,

Good on you for posting and asking questions right off the bat, that’s the key to success here!

It looks like Jonathan answered most of your questions, but I’ll just add that yes you do need to get the scale and single-hole technique correct before you move on to the next steps.

There’s no harm in looking at all the lessons, but the techniques taught in the first few lessons are really important building blocks that you need before moving on. With a good practice routine, you’re looking at about 2 weeks for each lesson.

    Keep on harping!
