I watched a tutorial on how to play this song on the harmonica-
But when I play my harmonica (Swan, blues power) doesn’t sound like that
The notes on my harmonica sound very clean, “perfect”, but their notes sound more rich and like with such a “rrrrrrr” sound
I’m a beginner and maybe this is a playing technique that I don’t know about, or it’s just cheap, that’s why it sounds like this
Help pls
Hey Dina, thanks for posting this… I totally forgot about the harmonica on this song! I was so glad to hear it again… what an awesome song and cool harmonica intro!
I’m not sure about the harmonica you have only because I haven’t played one yet. So two things… 1. That’s a really bluesy sounding lick that Steven Tyler plays… I’m not sure how far along you are in the course but have you tried to play similar bluesy sounding stuff and when you have can you match the tone or do you run into the same problem? And 2. If you felt comfortable to share a Recording of your playing that might help as well. I know there are plenty of people here that would be able to listen to that and help. Getting to hear it is the easiest way I know to answer that kind of question.I hope this helps and good luck!
ShawnThank You very much for reply! That helped
Also I rewatched the tutorial again and noticed that in some places he blows into two holes, which results in a rich sound, I think over time I will also be able to achieve such a sound.Wooohooo!! That’s awesome Dina! How Good does that feel to have figured that out?! For me those moments when I figure something out that’s been standing in my way feels so sweet. And at least you know it’s not your harmonica, which I’m sure feels reassuring.
And Mitch teaches that technique in lesson 14… it’s called double stop bending and your right it makes your playing sound so rich!
Side note… I watched the video for “pink” (which is awesome) and that thing that Steven Tyler does where he mouths the beat right as the song comes in is so rock star!Nice to connect and take care,
