Hello my dear friends,
I am very happy to to have found this website. I play with different Harmonica Types, but all still on a very beginner level. But I have much fun with this wonderful instruments. After starting to record my play I recognized, that i am often ‘out of the line’. So the ‘play along’ opportunity offered here is amazing.
Also the different topics seeming helpful.Ah, btw, i am near 41 years old and live in Stuttgart, Germany.
Greetings and best wishes
Sven
Greetings Sven!
I am also 41 and I live in the US.
So I’m totally a nerd for words and language… “Hampelstielzchen” what a cool word simply on appearance! I looked it up but couldn’t find a meaning. Would you mind sharing what it means?Welcome and best wishes as well!
ShawnHello,
Thx for your friendly reply. Hampelstielzchen is a crossword between Rumpelstilzchen (the german name of rumpelstiltskin from the fairy tale) and Hampel (substantive of the verb ‘hampeln’ – something like ‘to fidget’). In german it makes some sense. Hope i got the right translation for ‘hampeln’. To fidget was the nearest i found. Got the name for Pen and Paper Roleplay.
Yeah, that is all about it :).Sven
Hey sven,
Thanks so much for taking the time to explain that. That word feels like a whole world in itself! I had a lot come up about Rumpelstilzchen when I looked it up so I wondered if it was connected. So much gets lost in translation right?! I guess that’s the beauty of music… truly universal! Thanks again for sharing this… I learned a super fun word today. My wife is a word nerd right with me and she traces her ancestry back to Germany so she enjoyed it as well! Alright my friend, nice to connect with you Sven.Heyho,
happy that my name put some kind of input and interest there. I also enjoy to hear about similiarities and differences in european languages. So as from german to english in the words ´door = Tür´ or ´water = Wasser´ and so on. Quite a nice thing to play with words as well with sounds and music.
Also happy to was able to share some words with you. It is always nice to meet friendly and interested people.best wishes
Hi Sven,
Welcome on board. It’s always nice to meet new members.
You write that you are playing a different harmonica than the diatonic. What kind is it?
I think it will be hard to follow the course with a tremolo or chromatic harp. But these are my thoughts.
All the best
PS: I am 58 now and living in Hannover/Germany
