Someone gave me a Chinese blessing harmonica, and I have a lot of questions about it.

    – What’s it good for?

    – Is it the same as a tremolo harmonica?

    – What happens when you cross-harp?

    – How are chords laid out on it?

. . . and all other questions I don’t know enough to ask.

    Thanks!

    Hey Charlie,

That’s a ‘marketing’ thing. Your harmonica is a tremolo harmonica.

    Here’s some info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tremolo_harmonica

Each hole has two reeds tuned to the same note but slightly off pitch with each other in order to give the tremolo sound.

For this reason, notes can’t be bent, so cross-harp is out the window I’m afraid.

It’s great for playing melodies in 1st position, and some tunings do have chords like a diatonic harmonica, but the notes are laid out differently. See the above link for more! :)
