    Hi All,

    I’ve just uploaded a new Play-a-long called:

    ‘3 Hole Throw Down‘.

It’s a bluesy track with some great practice for those of you beginners working on your 3 hole bend.

It’s also a great example of what can be done when playing with only a few notes. Sometimes simply moving a note up or down by one semi-tone can totally change the melodic power of the chord and song you’re playing over.

Once you have a look at the tab you may ask “but Mitch this is a blues and there are notes that are not in the blues scale?” .. 😎

And you would be correct, however those notes that are not in the blues scale DO work on certain chords. In fact they accentuate that chord.

This is a super old trick blues harp players have used, borrowing from Muddy Waters guitar playing and others…

So please note, players of all levels… there is gold to be found in experimenting with this one, and then going out on your own and using the:

3 draw on the 1 chord.
    3 Semi-tone bend on the 4 chord.
3 full tone bend on the 5 chord.

And you can play with passing notes to these notes too!

Extra points to whomever can tell me the same notes in the next octave up on the harmonica!

    Mg
